2015 Wedding Invitation Trends

A lot can be said from a couple’s wedding invitations. Of course it's the guest's first impression & sets for the tone for the upcoming wedding, but it also speaks to the couple: are you whimsical, traditional, modern, classic, bold, or trendy?

Whether you're the type of bride who really likes to stay on trend or who would never be caught dead doing anything that's too "popular," it's important to keep abreast of what's going on in the world of wedding invitations. By doing so you can either get some inspiration (or not!).

Below are some of the trends that I’m seeing this year in wedding invitations.

Lace Die Cut

This year, take the modern approach and trade in for a laser-cut lace pattern. The look is still super chic and classic but with a contemporary touch. It doesn't stop at lace either; woodland cutouts for a rustic wedding are a great touch, too.

How can you incorporate lace into your invitation:

Real Lace   Diecut Lace    Printed Lace

Foil Stamping

Metallics made a huge comeback to the wedding scene last year and they are here to stay for 2015.

Available foil colors:  Red, Rose, Wine, Sage, Hunter, Teal, Royal, Purple, Penny, Gold, Platinum, Silver, White, Ecru.

You’ll see foil-stamped calligraphy as well as decorative motifs on invites this year.

Natural & Organic

Naturally beautiful, this trend testifies to the beauty of the great outdoors and all things artistic and eco-friendly.

This design aesthetic loves handcrafted touches, homegrown edible favors, and DIY décor. Farm to table receptions with locally grown organic food is a trend that isn’t going anywhere soon.

A few ideas for extending a naturally organic feel throughout your suite include the rustic look of Kraft paperburlap and chalkboard style designs.

Formal Elegance
Returning to an earlier time of posh and elegance, a formal wedding is on the rise in 2015. This fresh take on formality includes extravagant attire, a stately venue and lavish details. Ceremonial yes—stuffy, no! Don your tiara and ball gown but don’t forget your cocktail dress for the after party!

For a modern classic stationery suite, think elegant scripts married to sans serif fonts—personalized in charcoal or gray.

Another way to further personalize your stationery is with a regal monogram or an ornamental design pattern such as filigree or damask.

Statement Photos

In 2015, it’s all about showcasing your style and personality through visual storytelling. Whether you’re playing with props, having a chalk war in the backyard, or dolling up and going downtown for an uber-urban shoot, make a statement with photos that echo with your style and spark.
Where to begin? Browse Photo Save the Date designs before your engagement session. Share your favorites with your photographer so that you will all be on the same page—with more focus as to which poses you’d like to capture.

Real Wedding: Shannon & David

I am so happy to be able to feature one of the
beautiful brides that I worked with in 2014.

Shannon & David were married August 2, 2014
at the Best Western Island Palms in San Diego, California.

Shannon wanted her invitations to reflect the beautiful seaside wedding at the Island Palms. She chose a lovely silver metallic panel pocket wedding invitation that featured a contemporary wave motif at the bottom helping to set the mood for a naturally festive celebration.

Shannon & David’s wedding was coordinated by
Courtney of Breezy Day Weddings www.breezydayweddings.net
I heard she did a fantastic job on the day of the wedding.  Unfortunately, it rained on their wedding day, but her coordinator and the Island Palms quickly took care of all of the last minute arrangements to move the ceremony inside.

Special thanks to Capture Photomatic www.capturephotomatic.com
for capturing their gorgeous wedding photos.

They also had A Little Scene Flipbook www.alittlescene.com
at their reception which was a big hit.

Congratulations to Shannon & David!
