Top 10 Wedding Favors for 2009

Brides have so many decisions to make – who to invite, what to wear, wedding colors, shoes (oh the shoes), flowers, food, venues, seating charts – the list is endless!

So, I thought it might be helpful if I gave you a peek inside a bridal survey, where brides tell what they want and what they love!  Here are the Top Ten Wedding Favors for 2009 (so far this year) …

10. Incredible Edibles!
“Edibles” is the best way I can think of to categorize cookies and candy and wine (but that might be drinkables?). Brides love to give their guests a little “edible love” as a wedding day thank you.

While I don’t have any specific cookie or wine suggestions, I can tell you that our Mint To Be’s are a huge hit at receptions!

9. Soaps!
Seriously! Not a bar of Irish Spring at every place – but cute ones (like ours :) Your guests will love them!  Soaps

8. Eco-Friendly Favors!
Many couples are planning "green" weddings and making environmentally friendly decisions. Inviting Invites offers several creative ideas for “green” wedding favors & eco friendly wedding supplies. Our popular green wedding confetti is festive & completely water soluble & bio-degradable. Other eco friendly wedding favors include personalized seed cards & bamboo coasters. Don’t forget to check out eco-friendly invitations & stationery.

7. Kitchen Items!
I know, you’re thinking an engraved soup spoon or something like that. But listen to a quote from a bride when we asked her for an idea of the perfect favor …”Since we are known for our cooking and love of fine food, a kitchen gadget would be ideal!”

It’s not a “gadget”, but we think this idea’s pretty practical, and pretty clever, too! Also a perfect number seven on our Top Ten Wedding Favors survey results.

6. Garden/Outdoor Themed Favors!
We know that Outdoor/Garden Theme Favor Favorites make little spike in popularity during the warmer months. And as usual, we are always thinking up new ways to satisfy your wishes!   Don’t forget to check out our garden themed invitations & stationery.

5.  Seasonal Favors!
If you’re getting married in a season (and you know you are – tee hee), then you might want to look around for something unique and memorable that evokes your chosen wedding season. Search our online catalog and you’ll find a category called “Theme Favors” – that’s where you’ll find the perfect seasonal keepsake for your wedding.

4. Place Card Holders
Nope, not just for placecards any more. Our place card holders multi-task! Use one of our memory albums as a place card holder, then slip in a thank you note on the first page, and include a few photos of you and your fiance on the inside. The golf ball place card holder is perfect for country club weddings, and it hides a tealight! Beach wedding? Adirondack Chair – and slip an engagement picture behind the place card in the frame for happy thoughts later on down the line. OK, I’ll stop. But I just get so excited!

3. Favor Boxes!
Coming in at number three among our brides in the Top Ten Wedding Favors list is an old standard, the favor box. One center plate, holding a sweet treat, a wonderful thought, a thank you from the heart. (You know, this makes me think I need to write a post about what to put in favor boxes. Hmm….idea!)

2. Wine and Bar Accessories!
Aha! I know why this one is such a big favorite – everyone can use them! We always add a dash of practical into our cuteness factor!  Wine and Bar Accessories

#1   Candles!
I don’t need to say anything more about the Number One favorite favor for 2009. We all love candles. Enough said.

So did that help some? I hope so! Happy planning!

Autumn decorating ideas you’ll “fall” in love with!

Weddings in autumn have special appeal. The weather is cool and nature practically decorates herself, providing a beautiful backdrop for your celebration of love AND the season! Whether your look is rustic or elegant, there are so many creative ways to accent your décor.

Autumn colors are uniquely beautiful, so be sure to incorporate them into your
save the date cards and invitations to give guests a sneak peek at your wedding style and the tone of the event. Opt for rich, soft colors like below Designed In Mocha invitation…

…or go bold with colors like spice and mocha paper shown on our
Self Mailer — Wrap it up. All those invitation ensemble pieces, gathered together. Uniquely. Attractively. Conveniently (which may be the most important of all).

Don’t forget the matching items that will make your wedding a stand-out, like printed
menu cards, place cards and table number cards.

They may seem like small items, but don’t overlook the decorating and style impact of personalized napkins. Choose napkins that coordinate with your wedding colors and have them printed with an autumn design or a monogram in a glistening foil.

Display your favors, foods and other items creatively incorporating the beautiful things autumn has to offer. Need ideas? Search floral shops or go on a nature walk and collect branches, berries, leaves, nuts and interesting grasses for accents with natural elegance. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Be natural with these natural-tone favor boxes! These favor boxes of thick, natural-tone paper are available in two sizes to suit your needs. The 3" square box is generously sized to hold a slice of cake, big chocolate truffles or small gifts. The smaller box measures 2". Ribbons sold separately. Boxes may be personalized.

Make sure your favors coordinate with your autumn wedding theme! It’s easy to do with the simplest additions. Add a personalized, leaf-shaped tag to favor boxes

…accent a cellophane bag filled with mixed nuts with spice ribbon and a personalized, matching favor tag

…finish the night off with a beautiful fall wedding favor. I love the
Fall Leaf Tea Light and Place Card Holder. The leaves are aflame with the lively colors of fall, a cozy fire warms your hands and your heart, and giddy guests depart with a dazzling memento of your autumn event. The exquisitely crafted, metal maple leaf displays every hue in Mother Nature's autumn palette, and when lit by the tea-light, it glows with the brilliance of the season.

Calla Lily Invitations and Favors

Stark in it’s beautiful simplicity, the trumpet-shaped calla lily takes over a bouquet, or stands regally alone in a tall vase centerpiece. But don’t eat it! It’s toxic.

Back to the symbolism. Marriage, purity and rebirth are the three words associated with calla lilies when it comes to wedding traditions. In the language of flowers, calla lilies speak magnificent beauty.

Callas always make a beautiful bridal bouquet, whether combined with other flowers, or used alone.

Todays Trend - Bolder Stronger Colors for Brides

Whether rich sapphire, bold chartreuse or a cooling aquamarine, the hippest colors showing up at weddings this year are blues, greens – or both. Blues and greens top the color palette for many brides, and are tagged as the trendiest wedding colors for 2009

The shades that are popular for 2009 are as varied as brides themselves, although trends are showing stronger, bolder colors are preferred by many brides. Bright aquas, lime green and chartreuse are among the top choices, frequently paired with another bright hue. During the summer and fall, expect the hues to be bold, bright and rich. Fall and winter weddings will showcase deeper, warmer and richer hues. Rich shades of navy blue are gaining popularity among those brides who don’t opt for the bright and bold colors, and are frequently paired with the bright tones to provide some balance. Navy is seen as providing an elegant touch to weddings, especially evening affairs.

Quite often the bold colors are paired with a neutral palette. Brown continues to be a strong choice for weddings and is striking with many of today’s greens and blues. The new neutral for 2009 is gray, which adds a shimmery elegance, especially when paired with navy, turquoise or another rich shade of blue. See grey invitations here or contact Inviting Invites to have a custom made invitation

According to the Wedding Report, the most common place for the colors to show up is on bridesmaids’ dresses and wedding cakes. Colors are also carried through in flowers, table décor and other decorations, as well. Wedding stationery is the perfect place to set the color choice for the wedding, beginning with save-the-date cards and, of course, invitations. The invitation sets the tone for the wedding for guests, conveying not only the colors the guests can expect to see at the wedding, but also the formality or simplicity of the event.

The sky’s the limit for brides when selecting the colors for their wedding. Brides should always select the color or colors that they prefer… regardless of what the experts say!
